Why use straw-bales?

  • Straw is a waste agricultural product, and hence rather inexpensive wherever grain is grown -- which includes most of the US;
  • it is easy to work with, with only a small learning curve;
  • it provides great heat (and, incidentally, sound) insulation without the expense of extra materials.
